I have '03 6.0 when it gets to full temp it will run horrible and eventually stall. It will take a few long cranks to restart. will drive a little bit but will stall again. It will idle all day long even after a stall. IPR @hot idle is 22 and ICP @hot idle is 640. IPR and IPC readings seem to run good throughout the rpm range except for when it dies. Then the IPR is anywhere from 71 to 85. Has new ICP and Pigtail. Runs very good until hot. I am leaning towards HPOP. Any input would be appreciated.
koeo... IPR14.8, IPC 29. IPR jumped to almost 80 when cranking to start cold. Just noticed now too that ficm output runs down as low as 44v when started cold. When warm ficm has been 47.5-48. ficm is probably starting to go but I don't think that is the issue. Blade, I will check out your info.
78fordman, Gauge does stay up but during start up it takes a few seconds to go up. Replaced the oil pressure sensor a few months back but didn't change anything.
That's normal. Watch the ect and eot, is it always about the same temp when it dies? This is sounds like a pump problem but they are an expensive part. I would set your scangauge to ipr, icp, icp desired and eot and go for a drive. If the ipr starts to shoot up and there is a difference in icp and icp desired with good base engine oil pressure upon increasing engine demand, it's your hpop. It will idle and hot restart all day, but can not maintain the icp pressure upon higher oil demand.
I tend to agree. I have also noticed that it dies more often than not going up hill or shortly after going up hill. I have had an issue for months of start stall 2 or 3 three times then runs when parked level or nose up. Maybe one has nothing to do with the other but I wonder. I am trying now to see if I can add ICP desired to my scan gauge 2 and check as 78fordman suggests.
A little more info... EOT at 211 deg. when truck stalls out. Oil pressure gauge stays up. Just prior to engine stall I hear what sounds like a whistling or whining. It sounds like a pump running empty or something. Maybe my pump grinding its self up! Max EOT that I saw was 221 deg. IPR goes to near 85 before stall.
