Everything I find when I search injector fuel leak comes up with HPO leak at the HPO rail nipple. I did not have a hot start issue and I understand what's being said about the HPO leaks and the O-rings at the top of the injectors look good. I'll be damned if I can find anything about the injectors leaking fuel. the fuel seems to be coming out of the sides somewhere. Can anyone tell me if the injectors have internal seals that could be bad causing them to leak fuel? I don't mind doing research, god knows I have spent many many hours looking for the answer.
Since you installed the new orings and copper washers how did you test it to see if it is still leaking fuel?
torqued down to 28 lbs. Lubed o-rings in oil prior to installation. Detached the drivers side fuel line from the upper fuel housing and connected a fitting and put air to it. All 4 injectors leaked the air from around the sides. It was hard to tell exactly where but looked like in the middle of the injector. I did use a 10mm socket to install the copper washers too. The 4 injectors were replaced around 3 years ago with reman injectors from Pennsicola. Don't know if that makes any difference or not.
well if your leaking fuel to the rocker housing then that's just those 2 orings
I suspect combustion gas would be blown by if the holddown didn't seat properly
where youget oringsfrom fordhouse
and it could be those 4 inject I wouldn't trust anything but FORD INJECT there was talk about some of the rebuilders machining that injector housing IIRC as part of rebuild process
its been a few could be way OFF BASE here
I would think the inject are fine as far as that goes since they ran so long already
Did the blue spring upgrade about 8 months ago. Nothing other than that. The O-rings were from my local ford dealer. I made sure to lube them. Also made sure the bolt holes were clear of any oil so the torque was correct. I compared the O-rings to the old ones and they looked comparable really not much of a difference. I'm thinking possibly the injectors are leaking internally and fuel is coming out between the two injector halves where they are screwed together.
You should not be putting air to the fuel passage. Hopefully it was regulated. But if it was,, you might as well be using fuel to leak check. Over 100lbs and you might be causing the leak.
Thanks Anthony for taking the time to post all the videos. I really appreciate it. After watching them, I have to assume that my problem is the aftermarket Injectors. Sure wish the O-rings would have worked as I am planning to trade the truck in and really didn't want to drop another $1000.00 into it. Not sure I will get any return on my investment. But anyway that was the info I was looking for and once again thanks for posting. I will follow up and let everyone know what happens.
the orings were my first thought. Remember,,, air n water are the main culprits for injector tip cracking. That's total engine rebuild if a tip cracks. We yanked an engine last night for what seems to be that exact issue. I might be buying the truck we yanked it out of. It's a 2wd std cab longbed. Perfect candidate for a std cab shortbed,,, tire roaster!!! Lol. Sorry for the topic change.
I use a 9mm deep on the crush washer,, then after the injector is ready to install,,, I submerge them in oil for about 5 min at least. Sometimes,, on big jobs,, I will leave the injectors submerged for days.
