Plus don't ever think you could not have a bad tire run out on the sides an the OD.
Raise the vehicle so tires are just off the ground and set something like a block of wood up against the tire to rub on the tire sides an the OD and turn each tire to check each run out of wheel & tires for out of round or a bent wobbling wheel..
Same way to check driveline run out setting a block up next to the Drive shaft an turn to check run out.
Also check for loose front wheel bearings.

Well I decided to put the back end on blocks and watch things while turning. It turns out the drive shaft has a pretty good bend in it that became more obvious the higher the speed.
Any ideas on where to find a drive-shaft that will fit a 1971 short bed?
Easy. Locate local Driveshaft repair company. They can cut your ends off and weld a new tube in the middle of them. Then rebalance it. Suggest new U-joints JIC.
If one or both of the universal joints are frozen bad enough it could give the illusion that the shaft is bent. Also check that the rear tail shaft bushing is not worn out. If the shaft is bent it can be rebuilt and re balanced at a drive shaft shop.
Well I blocked it up again today. It is definitely bent About 1/2" to 3/4". Thanks again for all the tips

These OEM driveline tubing is thinner then we think they are.
If driven very long with a bent driveline it could cause the tranny rear out put shaft bushing damage, also a slip yoke if so equipped.
Tube replacement cost about $200+- some
The u-joint that can be greased are not as strong as the non grease-able
maintenance free ones.
And grease able ones won't last as long if they don't get greased like there suppose to every time you do an oil change.
But doing the general maintenance these days like a simple lube job has seem to have been forgotten about with these old classic vehicle.
Most guys don't have any ramps to drive up on that makes it much easier to get under the vehicle to even do oil & lube jobs.
And the "Fast" oil change shops don't really care if they do your u-joints get greased or not, and don't really look to see if they are grease able since all the newer vehicles don't need greasing.
If a vehicle has been lowered then the chance of any under vehicle maintenance like any lubing then, I'd say it's not being done by many guys.
It's way to much trouble to get under the low riders with out any ramps.
