Ok need help from the experts. At 50mph and up I have a lot of vibration clutch in or out.
I know I'm not providing a lot of info but I'm just not sure what else to say about it. Hoping you guys might have the magic fix.
1971 300 6cyl rebuilt did same thing before the rebuild.
Are you sure you have the 300 flywheel and not one from a sb. If its right, the bushing in the trans tail housing will wear, causing a vibration.
I feel sure I'm the first person to have the motor out.
Is there any way to tell for sure which flywheel I have? The only thing I remember about it when I had it out was it had balance holes drilled in it.
Also what is sb?
Thanks!!! Hio Silver I will definitely be looking into it. And lol on the drive shaft
Btw, leave the wrench out of it and it's a harmless practical joke... Get a really looong zip tie, secure it to your friend's driveshaft and leave the tang end long so it slaps the body or bed when you pal starts to drive away.... More better if you shoot a video for posterity's sake.
Be prepared to scoot when your pal discovers what you've done.
Please post back your corrective action for filing in "the knowledge base".
Well I decided to put the back end on blocks and watch things while turning. It turns out the drive shaft has a pretty good bend in it that became more obvious the higher the speed.
Any ideas on where to find a drive-shaft that will fit a 1971 short bed?

I'm kinda wondering how it got bent..... all of a sudden.
Craigslist, salvage yard, FTE market place, or try your state FTE chapter. Or have one made.
You're in Texas, right? Isn't there like bazillion trucks in Texas??
You know, if its not your DS, take a long look and feel your tires. One or more may be separating on you and it will do the same thing before it blows. Desert heat and Texas heat seem to do this a lot.
