Have several issues with my column and was wondering about interchange rather than rebuild.
Auto tran and factory cruise. Mine is tilt but that's not required.
Any sedan or van or such have a similar or same column?
All the trucks near me seem to have broke/worn out columns.
I think the van columns may fit, but they are longer. Would require some modification of the intermediate shaft. Remember, no welding on steering components!
1980 to the early 90s (1992? Whenever they started with that multifunction stalk thing) from F-series & Bronco will work as a drop-in replacement. Van columns, at a minimum, use a different turn signal switch and possibly different ignition lock cylinder stuff and wouldn't be a drop-in (no idea about length and whatnot).
Thanks for the reply, ct. Knew those would plug and play but had been told that some cars had same column with different dress.
Trouble is here trucks are used hard and never put away, so with all the crushing that has gone on over the last decade it's hard to find salvage parts. May have to do it the hard way and rebuild mine.
