steering column

My steering column is all worn out, its out of a 76 ford f-100 with manual steering, What can I look at to find a steering column, mine has that little thing at the end for it to bolt on to the box. Will one from a van work?

you can probably use any 73-77 manual column, but I don't think the van will work. Not 100% on the van column.

What is worn out on your column? The upper and lower bearings as well as almost all of the other parts and the flex connector are still available. I rebuilt mine with parts from wildhorses4x4.

I just finished rebuilding the column in my 73. It just needed the upper bearing and the flex connector.

When you find a good used one. Inspect the upper and lower bearings on the steering column. Inspect lower round plastic retainer that attaches to the lower portion of th steering column shaft. These parts usually wear out and need replacing. When the steering column is off it easier to replace and inspect these parts.

any 73-77 MANUAL column will work. A power sterring column is the wrong length.

If you are interested, I have a steering column in my basement that you can have. It is out of a 1977 F150 that had a 4 spd manual tranny in it. It doesn't have a turn signal switch in it but the rest of it is there. You would probably be wise to replace the upper and lower bearings in it but they worked just fine for me. If you are interested, you can have it for the price of shipping from Baltimore.

Thanks for the offer whalerron, but I found one at the salvage yard today, man there was only one truck from the 70's and I got lucky it worked. Well thanks again for the offer but I have one now, and thanks everyone else who helped.
