I went to replace my vehicle speed sensor last week. The original one was giving me a shaky speed reading over 65 mph which is why I replaced it. When I put the new one and I'm now getting a shaky speed on the speedometer at around 45 mph. I bought the part from advanced auto parts so it's not a genuine Motorcraft part. Has anyone run into this kind of trouble before or is there something that needs to be cleaned inside the diff? Just looking for thoughts on how to fix it or should I return it and get a genuine Motorcraft part? Thanks in advance
Getting one from ford is a better option but still not guarantee it will fix it. When I changed mine I got three different one from ford before it stopped bouncing
Quick (well, kinda) test - put the old sensor back in and drive it. If you get the old functionality back (OK up to 65), then the new sensor is indeed a POS. If it's flaky over 45 (or anything lower) with the old sensor, then you've got another problem - pigtail, wiring, tone ring, etc.
