Thanks. The reason I thought that there is a possibility it could be a 1975 block is that the book I have"how to build max performance ford v-8.'s on a budget" lists C6ME as a 360 from 1968-1976 and 410 66-67 and 428 66-68.(we know how the info in these books can be) So what you are saying C6ME stopped production when the C7ME began? This book left me confused. The book dosen't show this block as a 390 either. I know that's its a 390 now but it may not have started life as a 390. Anyway. It has an cast A near the date code that is the same size lettering as the C6AE- (the number has a dash in it on the block). Is it possible that the A means C6AE-A even though it isnt cast with the C6AE on the passenger side?
AFAIK C8TE was the block casting number prefix from 1968 thru 1976 for 360/390 F100/350. The 360/390 blocks are the same, only the stroke is different.
Hot Rod (H/R) published a paperback book circa 1970 on FE's.
Two parts guys at Beverly Hills Ford got the info (casting/ID/part numbers) for H/R from the Ford Motorsport catalogs that came out in 1969.
Parts guys also gave H/R the numbers for hipo/non hipo FE's that were listed in the Ford/Shelby/Cobra accessory catalogs (thru 1968).
The thing was that Hot Rod was supposed to let these two guys proof read the manuscript BEFORE it was published. But that didn't occur.
The mag came out, it was a FIASCO as the IDIOTS at Hot Rod mixed up casting numbers with part numbers. And since then, many other books on this subject are using this Hot Rod info.
