You hit the nail right on the head. I found out this morning he bought a brand new 2015 f-350 superduty last night, mason dump. I asked what engine, he didn't know, I asked what the GVWR was, Whats that? I asked him what ratio is in the axle, no clue. I told him you have 2 guy's here that would go with you to make sure your buying the right stuff, he said buy a one ton you told me, there are so many configurations that you can get, if you got one with a 3.08 ratio, what are you going to tow or what do you want to carry in the dump body. A 3.08 will do good on gas and ride nice on the highway, but that's not what we need. you want to haul 3/4 clean stone, a bucket of that is 3 tons, how long will this truck hold up over loading it every day. That's the one they gave me the best price on. Yea for what reason? So i wont even know what we got till 11am when the dealer is dropping it off, I have to put the wood sides on it and the warning lights. He doesn't even know if it's 4 wheel drive or not and it will be a plow truck, I didn't even ask him if it has the plow prep package. You can't run a business this way, buy the cheapest truck they got.
Seriously Best price, you better get on craigs list and start looking for parted out 4x4 sd to be able to convert your new 2x4 over
Ken you hit the nail on the head. I grew up Episcopal and love the services and the camaraderie of church the the families we associate with there. Old fashioned values - not conservative or liberal - but just caring people. But the number of families that actually make the effort to go to any organized religious institution these days continues to shrink.
Jim, we have selected three qualified vendors to bid. All three would be excellent - I'm hoping for Bruno Gubetta from Alpine Restoration in Waterbury. He is probably one of the best in New England.
Thanks Gerry Rob and Roy. It is a beautiful old building. Inside is gorgeous and the stained glass windows are priceless. We've been members here since since 1978. It is a wonderful, family oriented parish, that is also very giving and open to the community. We are just finishing up a project with a national organization (Partners for Sacred Places) to understand the value of the Full Ladle Soup Kitchen, the food pantry and other ministries we offer to the community. Looks like it would take $200,000 of public money to replicate what we do for free. As Ken pointed out, the challenge is in maintaining old buildings like this while also maintaining our mission work in the community. We stretch the dollar as best we can but the building has suffered for the last 50 years. I decided it was time to save it before it was beyond repair. Still working out a 5-10 year capital restoration plan but its coming along.
The church is in the heart of downtown, across from the county courthouse and the federal building and just down the street from the state house. Our open courtyard is used by over 100 people a day for lunch, quiet time, meditation and just as a peaceful setting in the city.
That is beautiful Shawn, it is a shame as to what has happened to us, people laugh when I tell them I go to church every Sunday and sent my kids to a catholic school. I was raised Catholic and so are they, the country would be a much better place if we bought that back into our lives. Time is always tight but you need to make the time, it's good to have people like yourself who make the time to do such important work. If left to the politicians they would tear the church down and build an apartment building looking at the tax dollars and not what keeps the families and towns people together. God bless you Shawn for doing the right thing but we are losing the battle, just like the greatest generation. Not many around anymore and that too will be rewritten in the text books, Ask anyone on the street and say what happened on June 4 1944, or December 7 1941. I bet most couldn't answer and couldn't care less. Shame

Now that you have me in tears.........
The truth really hurts.
The only thing that keeps me from going postal.......I have to believe that God is in charge and it doesn't get better than that !
