Just wondered if any of you esteemed mechs have any tips on mating the turbo to the collector (baby's butt).
Seems the collector may have moved aft after pulling the turbo to do the pedistal seals and other stuff. About an eighth or more separation between the mating flanges. And original bolt too short by more than that, to start the nut to have clamp close this gap. Gotta close the gap so the clamp comes down over the flanges & bolt protrudes enough the start the nut. Then the clamp will compress around the flanges and tighten them.
I would suggest not tighnening anything down until all bolts and nuts are started. otherwise you may have to loosen the up pipes at the manifolds and get everything up top on the collector and base started first.
I had a feeling. The same principle applies though. Odds are the collector has twisted a touch and the allignment stud isn't lining up to the corresponding hole
