I have a 2000 Ford F-150 and I was trying to program and key fob to the pickup. The pickup does have a theft light that works properly on the dash. When I got the pickup it never had a key fob with it. Do I need to put in a aftermarket or am I doing something else. I have tried turning the key eight times in 10 sec and it doesn't due anything.

 

under the dash , above the steering wheel there should be a silver colored "box" about 4 inches square and an inch thick with wires.. That is the receiver for remote signals. See if the truck is equipped to work with a remote or keyless entry.
