04 shudder/shake at low speed acceleration

blue76,
I bought a 2004 F150 XLT 4x4 back in October of 2014. Get this the truck only had 15,200 miles on it. It was a true barn find. I had a similar shudder when I would take off. The previous owner had just had 'all' the fluids changed. Never believe that.
My shudder felt like it was in the drive train. What I did that solved my problem was pull the rear differential cover and inspect and replace the fluid with Valvoline Full Synthetic 75W140. I added in 8 oz. of K&W Products/7 oz. Posi-Trac gear oil additive. Drove it for about a week and the problem was much improved but still noticeable.
The next weekend I replaced the transfer case fluid with Valvoline Multi-Vehicle Transfer Case Fluid. The book says to use Mercon, but the current Mercon compatible fluids will blow up the transfer case due to the new additives. This is a known issue, and Ford now recommends using XL-12 in the transfer case, and the Valvoline Transfer Case Fluid is compatible with XL-12. I've been driving it since the second week of November with out any shudder.
A couple of months ago I also changed the front differential fluid, and it really needed it as well. This didn't have anything to do with the shudder in my case, but it might be worth inspecting and changing to solve your problem.

04 5.4l wont idle beliw 1000 rpm
my 04 fx4 5.4l just started when i exited off the highway and let off the gas died. And now if it cools off will start fine but when it warms up wont idle below 1000 rpms or it sputter knocks and dies. It is hard to start after it has warmed up as well. If i keep the rpm's up it will run and at highway speed runs fine. Had it hooked up to computer and they said it was camshaft position sensors i replaced both with no change. The usual phaser ticking is louder but when trying to idle it knocks like a diesel. Does this sound like the phaser are out or does it sound more like timing guides and tensioner. Any help and opions greatly appreciated
