I have an 09 F150 4x4 with 116,000 miles on the clock. Im having an issue with moderate acceleration and felt mostly in 3rd gear. I changed the spark plugs at 106,000 miles with OEM replacements. I have had this issue since about 80,000 miles but intermittently. It seems its starting to get worse as time goes by. The problem is both cold or warm and doesn't happen all the time but now about 80%. Light acceleration is good and full acceleration is great with no issues. Feels more like running out of fuel but not to the point of stumbling. Possible misfire that is not being detected. No check engine light lit. Tranny shifts perfect. Idles extremely smooth. I was thinking a coil problem but with no engine light, I don't want to try to guess which one. So far, this truck has been awesome and has needed nothing but tires and routine maintenance. I pull trailers consistantly and this beast is not abused nor babied. Any help would be appreciated!
Maybe take it to some place like Advance Auto or Auto Zone that can scan for codes to see if something is popping up? IIRC they will do it for free, could be wrong. I had a failing coil pack on my old 04 F250 work truck that would stumble a bit, no CEL but a coil pack was going south
Also check you plug boots. I had the same problem as both of the above. Changed plugs and checked COP's. COP's where good but I had 3 bad plug boots. You can buy those seperately.
Best bet is take to a dealer or someone who has a breakout box to read the computer stored results and they can check for miss fires etc.as they won't throw a code unless it is real bad to upset another system code.
