04 5.4 4 speed auto

if anyone knows for sure i would like a answer, recently i have noticed that once lockup occurs, which happens in 3rd and 4th it requires quite a bit of pedal movement to cause unlock, and most of the time it does not JUST unlock but downshifts to the next lower gear. Which in a lot of situations is not the best thing, i didn't seem to notice this problem before a week or so ago, the truck has about 6k miles on it, also another thing about the lockup feature, going about 40 or so in 3rd and locked up, od button keeping it in 3rd, if i let off the pedal slightly it seems like it unlocks, but if i go to accelerate slightly it locks right back up again causing a condition which then reqires allot more pedal movement and a complete downshift, i can't believe this has always happened and i didn't notice it, does anyone have personal expirience with this problem? Please no guessing

I sure did have that problem. That's why last week I bought an 05 PSD. It got so irratating I had to make the move. Now, instead of getting PO'd, I have permagrin! Sorry, I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear... Other than the shifting and lack of power, my 04 F250 was a great truck. I put 42k on it. Around town it was fine. Highway? Forget about it...

Those things you don't like are part of the computer's programming. It's not in the trans. Unless someone changed the programming it has always done that.

yes i have also checked out a reprogramer that stores all the original settings while changing paremeters like trans settings, but $400.00 bucks? it better make a difference i can feel. The lock up feature also doesn't unlock when you hit the brake pedal like a gm product, just can't figure it out

My 5.4 4 speed auto seems fine, but it does shif constantly. runs much better with the OD turned off. Next, truck I get will be a manual trans, I am much better ant picking the right gear.
