GEM location and possible cause

Can anyone tell me where exactly I can locate the Gem Module in my 97 expedition? I had posted earlier that I am having gauge problems and wiper problems. Could it at all be related to the aftermarket radio I recently installed?

The GEM is located under the dash on the driver's side. It doesn't control the gauges, but does control the wipers.

The Gem is mounted to the top of the fuse box. The issue could be related to water leaks dripping down into both the Gem and fuse box and corroding/shorting circuits. A common problem. Many electrical anamylies can occur including instrument cluster, airbag system, abs, climate control, power accessories etc.

If you take it out, look for some form of corrosion on the metal parts. If it has been subject to a soaking you'll typically see mineral deposits or corrosion.
