Pictures of my grenaded rear from my 86 F150... It was a track lock out of a later truck, hence the tone ring. It had been in there for a few years and was making a little noise, but I wasn't expecting this...
The original open rear is going in, then in a month or two I'm doing a frame swap. Usually the spring hangers rot out, instead the frame behind rotted...
I've had it since 02 and it's never left me stranded... Even this time it drove home under its own power once the remains of the carrier was removed.
You must have 4x4 to drive it home like that, or the spider gear some how got gaulded into the ring gear to transmit power to driver's side wheel.
My friend blew his rear end up like yours(one wheel peels) but no luck driving it, ring gear spun but nothing else moved. It made one heck-of-a bang when it went too!
