Background: I owned a 2002 F250SD, 2WD, 7.3L until someone stole it 3 weeks ago. Yesterday, I bought another one (yes a regular guy can get lucky twice in one life) that has less millage that the first (127K) and is very clean. Took it for a test drive getting up to 55MPH and it had the typical ride of a 250SD--nothing unusal. Got back and the dealer rep showed my how the 4WD worked (my first 4WD with no lever, only the dashboard switch). Got the bank loan and went back the next day and drove it away.
When I drove out down the same street I began to notice a bounce like a tire(s) out of balance. Once I got on the interstate it became worse. Since then I notice that when it starts at about 25 MPH the sensation is like a loping and as speed increases in gets rough and more distinct. I feel like it is the front wheels fighting the rear wheels.
Having read everything I could find here (now knowing a LOT more that I did about 4WD's) I still am at a loss as what could have started this problem after I test drove the truck. I love it and want to make it work out and will appreciate any insight or ideas.
Many thanks for all the previous posts and looking forward to your advice.

My first though was a tire out of balance. combined with my second though of bad / worn out shocks.
Third though is you are not use to the solid front axle of the 4x4. They bounce a lot more then the 4x2.
The 4x4 are more sensitive to breaks and bumps in the roads.
Probably was there when you test drove it. Just did not notice it. (Been there done that!)
