I have two questions about my 1990 e150 van. Question 1: will the front seat adjustment brackets for a 1990 f150 fit my van? I am having trouble finding them for an e150, junk yards dont seem to have any e150s of that year. Question 2. gas gauge works sometimes but not all the time, what could be wrong? I Have a 1990 e150 inline 6 300 4.9 with a c6 transmission.
No idea on seat brackets. Doubt truck brackets fit a van though.
Fuel gauge is a variable-resistance circuit. If it's intermittent I would suspect a bad ground. If you disconnect the wiring at the tank and ground the sending unit's wire the gauge should go to Full. If not, bad wiring. If it does go to Full when grounded but doesn't read when connected, bad sending unit. The sending unit is a potentiometer of the external wiper type on the pump hanger assembly. Only available as part of the assembly I believe. The Delphi hanger assembly for my 89 with a 4.9 and 22 gallon rear tank was about $60 but there were available cheaper ones available at the time, about 5 months ago.
You can be looking for E series seats from '75 - '91, they will all be the same, and fit your '90, and some after market seat, from custom vans will also fit your year, also, all seats from that era, E-100 thur E350 will all be the same.
If you looking to replace the seats, get rid of the low backs and go with the high back seats of the '92+ era or from a custom van.
If your near me (Buffalo) there is a guy near me selling a pair of low back seats for $150, or you can come a pull them for free out of a '91 that I'm scrapping out.
