Hello,.. I recently purchased a new van and after purchasing have slowly come to learn of the many issues my Blue Ox has.
Namely, since I can only post in regards to one issue at a time is the Gas gauge. I simply cannot tell how much gas I have.. not to mention that one of my two tanks has a leak and apparently can't be used.
I have basically no knowledge of electrical systems and thus far have only changed a flat, my disc brakes on my previous vehicle (Ford Aerostar) and I've changed the battery and connector on this current vehicle. (Bought a nice ratchet set just do work on the van)
So,.. would it be a relatively easy fix? Or is this the kind of thing that is best left to an experienced mechanic?
This is my first post, happy to be here,.. I'll post some pictures of my van in the near future.
Welcome to FTE. Does your gauge work at all? I had an issue where mine was completely inop. Start by checking the ground at the sending unit. Then check the back of the instrument cluster. There is a circuit on the back that's laminated in plastic. That is my problem. They come apart and the copper strips break.

No one can answer that but you, based on your assessment of the steps involved. Worst case the tank has to come out (unless the sending unit is accessible on a van without removing the tank. Not the case for some trucks).
Turn the key to ACC, unplug the sending unit, and ground the sending unit lead coming from the truck (van?) to the sending unit pigtail's grounding screw. The gauge should peg to FULL. Report your results.
The gauge doesn't work at all,.. I was told by the previous owner that they only use the front tank and not the back because of a leak.. I've never tested it myself. :/
