JB Weld or JB Kwik. But you still have to remove the rust WITHOUT creating any sparks. The best way is to drain & drop the tank, then let a vacuum cleaner blow into it for a couple of hours with a 75W drop light under it to get rid of ANY fumes. Then it's totally safe to put a blowtorch in.
i used a product called POR-15. its a paint over rust paint. i used it on my 1955 ****** jeep gas tank. it had a punch of pinholes and a couple of bad seems. had a welding shop try to fix it, they just made it worse. i followed the instructions and after three coats it was done, has to dry 12 hours between coats. that was over a year ago and srill no leaks. they use alot of it on older tanks that cant be replaced and airplane gas tanks. the kit cost me $15.00 really is amazing stuff. goes on just like paint, i had my doubts that it would work, but it has me sold.
