I received a check engine light the other day, but didn't notice any changes in the way the truck ran. It would start up with no issues, and no issues while driving it. It went out later, so I am thinking that it fixed itself. Then came back on again later on. When I got home, I plugged in my code reader and pulled up code P1280. It wouldn't let me erase the code, even after 3 attempts. Then the light was out the next time I started it. Then came back on later that next day. I looked up the code, but I haven't looked at the truck since I looked up the code, as I work offshore. What I have found online, is the ICP sensor, but I haven't seen where anybody has had to replace it and it fixed the problem or not. I want to know what the fix is, not just what could be causing it. I understand that it could be one of many possibilities. Any suggestions?
Unplug the wire/connector to your ICP and see if there is oil in the connector. If so, this may very well be your problem. If not, then you will probably need to have access to a scan tool like AE or Torque so that we all know what is going on.
EDIT: Purchase only an OEM Ford sensor for the replacement if that is it.

Reason: Additional info.
P1280 indicates a short to ground or lost signal in the signal side of the circuit. Possibly located in the 42 Pin Connector or wires chafing at the DS Valve Cover Connection. Give it a good look and giggle the wires and see if that corrects it.
