have a 03 7.3 with 160k on it. guy says when he drives in the rain truck seems like it throtles itself going down the rd, and sometimes truck goes to an idle. when goes to idle he just pulls off rd and lets it idle for a few minutes then eventually it will rev up again. another thing is when it acts up said overhead console starts acting funny like reads -40 then 120 degrees. only code is ebp code, which to me has nothing to do with problem. any ideas would be great.
sounds like a bad ground to me. At least that would be the first places I'd start.
No code and electronics acting funky. at least eliminate that from the equation.
It is a semi common problem on these trucks. Check the back of the in cab fuse box and the GEM module for moisture...if the carpet is wet that is also a dead giveaway.
ill check some grounds. did just learn windshield was replaced. guy checking to see when it was done. gotta love it when people dont tell you everything. best i can tell inside is dry.
I would say check the grounds as well, not sure if the overhead and the accelerator pedal share the same ground anywhere though... The windshield is also a good place to look, as it can leak on electronics and cause issues, but for future reference, no GEM in an '03, so it won't be your issue. The GEM got dropped between MYs '01 and '02, it was replaced with such modules as the VSM (vehicle security module(I think is what its called)) and the 4x4 module. There may be other ones as well but those are the two I can think of off hand.
