I just bought a 92 reg cab flareside 4x4 nite and im having an idle problem. The truck runs and drives great. But when ever the truck is revved the idle slowly floats back down to the correct idle rpm speed. This kind of creates a problem while driving because it doesn't seem like I can shift very fast. Ive been told a bad Idle Air valve but I would like to see what you guys think, thanks
had the same truck in a 4x2 model. awesome vehicle...
are you saying the idle hangs up and then slowly drifts back down? if so, I had the same problem even after changing out IAC and TPS. Also a dead/leaky gasket at the throttle body can do this.
I wound up throwing a heavier return spring on the throttle cable and it helped considerably.

Thanks for the replies! I just bought a new IAC and will put it on tonight and let you guys know. The idle sometimes sticks a little bit when its cold out but when its 40F+ it never sticks it just slowly idles back down. And while im driving the check engine light may come on for about 15 seconds and turn off.

The computer is telling you there is a problem. Read the codes.
