Westin Step Bar
Thought anyone wanting to ease entrance / exit on the 4 X 4 F150 supercab 2003 would fine this interesting.
I bought a Westin Platium series (Stainless Steel base) Chrome Step bar from accessconnect.com for like $360 + $5 handling. The Chrome steel bar is $309 and the black steel bar is $209.
Westin says it is no drill. And it was. Took me about an hour for the drivers side to install and maybe 20 minutes for the passenger side. Once I understood the process, the passenger side was easy.
I have few tools and I am not very mechically savvy but this was a doable project for me. Didn't even have any help.
I ordered the Westin bar on Monday and it arrived on Thursday (UPS).
Really like the ease of entry now and the bar looks sharp.
Just a tip...whichever you decide on, make sure they're mounted right. A buddy of mine at work just put nerfs on his Dodge Ram and anytime he steps on them, they bend about 30 degrees because they arent bolted in correctly...and he had them put on at a dodge dealership
I picked up some DEE ZEE "off road nerf steps" new on E BAY for my 92 F250 X tra cab for 161.00 including shiping. Intall took all of 1/2 hour by my self for both sides. Had to drill two 3/8" holes. tools : drill with 3/8 bit, 9/16 socket and wrench, philips head screw driver and a c clamp( not needed if you have a buddy to help) six pack opitonal. cheep , easy to instal ,functional, and the look great.
i wonder why these things are so expensive, even the black finish ones are at least $160. running boards are much cheaper but all a nerf bar really is is a peice of pipe, bent at both ends with flat spots for footing and brackets welded on the ends. you wouldnt think they would cost so much for the material involved. i still plan to get a set (in black) hopefully for christmas!
good point! The ones I got were brushed aluminum the price was 125.00 plus shiping. Looking at at them makes me wish I had a welder and some alum. stock Oh well, the look good and work well.
