Got a new project

Me and Julie took a quick break from work and are in Atlanta picking up this ex. It's a customers from Florida. It's getting the COMPLETE treatment. ATS Trans, total rebuild which includes converting to the 05+ HPO system,, treating the frame,, basically a body off restore. Gonna be a big job. I figured I'd start a thread to document it. We already do live stream and time lapses,, but pics are sometimes better because they can be looked at longer than just a sec.

We are a couple weeks from being able to start this,,, but I will try n keep it updated. Moog owns this suspension too. Might need new carpet in it too. The rear hatch tumbler is sticky too (surprise surprise in an ex huh).

Good time to visit friends here too. Parked in Atlanta suburbia,, they hate goosenecks in this neighborhood,,, lol. It's ok,, we won't be here very long.

I thought they had to modify the block opening to accomodate the piston pumps.
I know Ford says they are not interchangeable but who knows until somebody tries.

Branch tube also. Also the y pipe heat shield. We are gonna do the vibrant y pipe too. As long as its NOT an 03,, the rocker boxes can stay.

We tried this on a 03 it did not work out to well.
The 05 pump is slightly wider it will be hard against thewall of the pump cavity. We also found the lip of the back cavity did not support the STC first generation fitting well and would sometimes un snap and leak.

The first generation stc fittings were bad about that even on a 05. Which was one of the reasons the new revised stc fitting was ever made.

Now my reference of the block modification come from the coffee table book. not the best reference but a official ford reference non the less.

I think you boys are in for an adventure. Fare the well gentlemen.
I tried to give the benifit of my little bit of experience trying this that did not work for us.

Ya lots of work

It would be nice to get the ICP Sensor out the back

Anything can be done but is it worth it

Wish I could tear down my truck and clean it up like that

The fact that this is not an 03 is a major bonus. There are a bunch of modifications needed for this type of transformation to a late model. We are doing a total engine rebuild so the changes are minimal. I will just swap the block if need be. We are also doing both harnesses as well. I still haven't left Atlanta yet,,, lol. And this project is not beginning yet. We have a couple jobs ahead of it. I might be changing the cluster and PCM too. Depends on the budget. I also have an extra 05 dash and all wiring. We will find out how deep the owner wants to go.
