I change my filter oncea year and cant remember what it looked like last time. Is this black or normal after about 15-20k? Or are the oring on the injectors getting tired
When the o-rings on my truck needed to be replaced the filter was considerably more black than the one in your picture and got that way in about 5k miles.
Thanks for the quick replies. I thought it looked dark and have read about the o rings and the black filter and just made me wonder here. I will change it out next year and see then.
Every 10K miles according to the book, and if it were me - I'd do it now. That is an aftermarket filter - it's missing the water guard. When you replace it, you may need a new fuel bowl top, because it might have been changed with that filter.
Here is my filter after about 7k. Seems a little black to me. I use about a 1/2 Qt of oil between 3k oil changes. I do use TCW-3 on most fill ups. Not sure if that plays a role.
