It BURPS

'99 F350. While cruising along, on occasion, I will feel a slight hesitation. This has happened both with a load and without. On a long trip back from Ca.(unloaded) it has become progressively worst (both in duration and more often). On one occasion the check engine light came on and the truck stumbled a little. I was not having any problems at leaving a stop sign until this am. I could pull off the line, but the transmission and motor would then search back and forth multiple times trying to shift up to the second gear. This lasted for a while trying to get out of downtown (stop and go). Got out of town and up to speed and for the most part as of now these problems have gone away (stop and go at the next town). Pulled these codes p0122, p1316, p1211, p0541. KOEO p0605 and p1275. Buzz test p1275. Cleared codes, then took for a short drive the only code is p0541. What am I needing to look for? Has a rebuilt trans. with 40K miles.

Check the UVCH(s) and 42 Pin Connector and Wiring at LH Valve Cover.

The P1316 often shows up with UVCH problems, as Tom mentioned. If the burp returns and it throws another P1316 again, there ya go.

The P0541 just means your AIH is not connected/working, you can disregard that one.

P1275 is a code for #5 injector, so I'd start by inspecting the UVCH connector on the passenger side for burnt pins.

Actually scratch that, I'd start like Tom said by inspecting the 42 pin harness where it drapes across the DS valve cover. It can chafe on the VC and then the spark that shoulda gone to #5 went to ground there instead. Easiest to unbolt the 42 pin connector so you can get a good look at the underside of the harness.

Could also be very brief ground or power supply disruptions to the PCM. Grounds on the driver side firewall and near the top of the DS fender can get sketchy.

What mods are on the truck?
