Well that fits decent. I'd like to see that in person. interesting. Boils down to what I think of as short bed compartment is what is a long bed, I'm assuming. Do you think that was factory or added by an owner? I thought the tool compartment was first offered in 1964 as C4TZ-9946100-B for the long bed stylesides and C4TZ-9946100-A for the short bed stylesides. I don't see anything in 1957-1963 MPC for it. I don't think the long bed box would work in the same area and that's all I've got.
I'm pretty sure they didn't offer the stowage box on F250 4x4 and F350 in 1966 from the factory. Those "wrong beds" as people call them. Lol. Not sure about earlier years on that one.

Here's 1966 Salesmans facts book. Look under STOWAGE COMPARTMENTS: on each of these pages. They call it the Tool Stowage Box.
Shows it optional on F-100 Series
F-100 4-Wheel Drive Series
F-250 Series - Of note here is the Deluxe Camper Special lists the Right-Hand Tool Stowage Compartment as standard equipment.
But, not listed for F-250 4-Wheel Drive
And not on F350. On these last two, only the Door Stowage is listed as Optional.
I'm currently restoring a '66 F250 .. has the factory tool box but needs a gasket between the box and panel. I have seen threads from some time ago and weren't sure if the information was up to date? Am I to understand the gasket is no longer made? Is there a good alternative for this gasket? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
I think the gasket the others were referring to in the early discussion was the weather seal between the door and inner box. I have not looked myself (mine is still in surprisingly good shape) but just assumed it was available. If it's not, might have to do something about that!
The fender welt 6t6 mentioned would probably work great for the seal between the entire box flange and the sheet metal of the bed it sounds like you're talking about.
Likewise, welting for aftermarket fender flares such as those for the '66 to '77 Broncos would probably work too. Might even be the same stuff?
