Gary while that is the case with the 80-96 F series trucks, it is not so for the 73-79 trucks. The 2wd trucks utilize the famous TIB front suspensions, while the 4wd trucks utilize a solid axle. This means that the cross member under the engine is mounted differently. And they are unfortunately welded in place. Also there are several other differences that make this pretty much impossible (aka highly time and skill involved) to do. He would be further ahead to just swap the bodies over.
