Morning guys, I finally caughed up the dough for a complete set of NOS Warn fender flares as some of mine have cracked and are compromised. The other reason Id like to mount a new set is because there is a small gap at the top of some of them that lets road debris in and chafes the clear coat and paint (im sure some of you have seen this, its common with flares), while reversing the affects of this may require a wet sand and buff or even worse a respray, mounting new ones is the route I want to go..
My question lies in the application/fitment of the new flares. First of all Im thinking about spraying a light coat of something on the inside of them to in affect strengthen the structure better (liquid rubber for lack of a better term) to help against cracking. What do you think? Products?
Next is the application process, in hopes to eliminate/cover that gap I was thinking after I mounted them with the 3m double sided tape I could fill that slight gap with some sort of clear adhesive, something that would be there for the long haul; obviously this would be a very small bead but it'd eliminate debris from going between the flare and body. Any idea what would be a good product? Id like to do this right as these flare are becoming unobtanium...
Thanks fellas.
I wish I knew you were looking to replace the flares.
I would of recommended Bushwackers.
They do not use double sides tape to attach the flare. They use 7-8 screws inside the wheel well lip and a Rubber "gasket" to seal the edge of the flare to the body.
If you want to avoid cracks, I would spray the bottom edge of the flare with a thick layer of Good bed liner, that will help cushion any flying rocks.
Doing anything inside the flare would be a waste of time

Thanks Brad, the Warns mount relitively the same way with the screws AND they use double sided tape. The reason I went with the Warns is because there is already a chafe memory in the 1/4 and bedsides under the upper edge of the flare so I wanted to be sure that would be covered. The other reason is because I think they look better than Bushwackers...
