Fender Flares

I'm interested in getting some fender flares on my 1998 F150 XLT. The problem that I'm having now is I live in a place where they salt/sand during the winter, and my fender lips (in the wheel well) are getting beaten up pretty good and have spots of rust.

What I would like to do is to get a set of OEM flares or possibly a set of Putco flares. <http://www.putco.com/fendertrim.shtml>

So my questions are, what would you recommend for maximum protection of the truck (preventing rust), and does anyone have experiences with the putco ones?

Or even if anyone has oem flares that they would like to sell?

Take care!

The Putco flares you are wondering about have a rubber edge that makes contact to the body. If mounted correctly, they will prevent dirt/sand/salt from getting between them and the body.

The only thing that you have to remember is that if they get bent at all after installation, the rubber edge will separate from the fender and then you just have a really good dirt/sand/salt retaining system attached to your fender.

I'm not trying to scare you away from this type of flare because they look great, just take care when installing and try not to ding them up.

Good luck and I hope I was of 'some' help.
