dipstick length and correct level
Some questions-
I have the 66 390 that was in a Fairlane. I know the guy didn't switch out the truck's oil pan with the car's, because we had to put a small hole in the right frame piece to be able to put a ratchet extension through. Also I have a plug installed instead of a bolt, but no biggy. So am wondering about my dipstick if it is not the correct one? Or did not all of the oil drain out (doubtful)? I would say most 390FE motors hold the same capacity, but it could also depend on the oil pan too?
What I had to do on my bronco after buying an aftermarket dipstick, I put what the manual called for in, ran the engine a few minutes to get it cycled, let it sit a.few to drain and marked.the.dipstick with a file at that level

I might would do some research I to that pan. Curious as to how many pans For offered, it might have not been as.cut and dry as 1car and 1 truck style.
