Compatibility Question from a tuning noob

I have a 2002 Excursion with the 7.3. I purchased an F5 DP 6 position chip from a friend brand new in the box. He ended up selling his 2002 F-250 7.3 and now has no use for it. It was tuned to VDH4 PCM code according to the little paper in the box. I pulled my PCM last night to check the code I have and mine shows NQW2. My question is how much damage would I be doing if I put this chip in with the different codes? I thought at first they should be similar codes given that they are the same model year diesels but the codes gave me pause before I went ahead and installed it. My question is am I ok to proceed or will using it shut my truck down? I am also thinking of having it reburned if need be because I would also like to swap some of the tunes for other ones.
