5 Star Tuning

I am considering buying a SCTx4 for a 6.0L with Head studs from 5 Star Tuning. What has slowed me down was is the fact that 5 Star appears to be more oriented to gas engines than Diesels. Has anyone bought tunes from 5 Star for a diesel and if so what has been your experience with them. Pro or Con about them. I have talked to Mike at 5 Star and he seemed like a fair guy. As finicky as the 6.0L is I want to make sure that I don't buy something that adversely affect the engine and transmission.
Thanks in advance
Greg

everyone has their own idea on what the best tuner is for each engine family.
if i was in your shoes i would ask in the 6.0 diesel engine forum what they recommend.
and then talk to clay at RiffRaff diesel to compare pricing.

Greg,

Over the years we've tuned 100's of the 6.0's. We put the same R&D time into our diesel tunes as we do the gas tunes to make sure the tunes are on point and that their will be no adverse long-term implications. We're always here for any questions that you may have. If you go with our tunes I believe you will be very impressed by them. I wish you luck in your search and if there is anything I can do just let me know!

I don't have the diesel, but I bought the X4 (with 3 tunes) from Mike and Jason and they are really knowledgeable. I would just ask Mike to send you the dyno results for your engine. Then take a look at those charts and see if you are comfortable with those results for the $400. I was sent to 5 Star from the dealer who sold me my SXT. They said 5 Star was the best in the business.

I just road tripped with my X4. I drove 75 to 85 depending on the popo and the traffic. I went 250 miles. I had 50 of those miles non-highway, so 80% highway. I picked performance-tow 89 octane. I got 18.7 mpg. Temperature was 6 degrees at start of trip and 40 by the end of the trip. I think I can get 21 or 22 mpg in warm weather if I go to the 89 octane gas mileage load and if I can resist my urge to go 80 to 90 when nobody is looking. 5 Star knows how to set these trucks up better than anyone in the business! This gas mileage is epic! My H2 gets like 11 mpg with a tail wind and if I refuse to go over 65, and my Suburban and Avalanche get 13 on a good day.
