The gauges haven't been tested. I need to test the boost gauge but there is enough evidence to say the pyrometer is bad. I am happy I can drive the truck without melting a piston. I need it for work sometimes and its nice to know its safe to drive.

When I first got the truck back on the road the pyrometer was reading 1400 degrees at half throttle and the boost gauge was reading no boost. I was afraid to give it any throttle because I thought the egts were high and I didn't want to destroy the motor. When I went for a ride with the second mechanic the pyrometer was acting really off. It was pegging at idle and bouncing. He said if the egts were high it would be blowing lots of black smoke. I hadn't thought of that. Now that I am not afraid to run the truck, the boost gauge will read a few pounds at WOT. But I don't trust it.

I have a boost gauge in my Jimmy that I can swap out or I might build something out of a cheap harbor freight air pressure gauge I have. Not sure when I will get to it. I need a break from working on the truck. My w123 needs a few things and the Jimmy needs front pads. I will definitely post up when I know more.

Where is the OBD port?

P.S.
I also have a fuel bowl and mechanical pump I don't need anymore. I will ship for the cost of postage if anyone is interested.

Thanks again for all the help,

Bill

The OBD port is sticking out from under the dash over on the passenger side towards the center a little. Has a black cap on it.

Update:

The auto meter gauge swap out went smooth. The pyrometer fitting in the manifold came out easily and the new one went it great. Seeing 15# of boost and 1000 degrees egts max when I hammer on it. Boost and Pyrometer were both bad. Trans temp was the same around 140.

Don't ever buy glow shift gauges.

Gauges are like tuners eh? Some work and some don't...they all are over priced or over rated?

I have had good luck so far with the edge tuner that came with the truck. I don't like how it makes the truck shift though.
