6 1/2' & 8' Styleside bed rails are the same 1967/91 .. as FoMoCo updated the original part numbers multiple times. I don't believe that the same rails were factory available for the 67-72. I may be wrong, but would love to see some documentation

Several years ago, I found a set of NOS bed rails at a dealer in AL with the last updated part number for FTE member Phil105. He installed them on his 1970 F100 without a problemo. I am curious about this as well, I have seen the same rails for the 1980 & up trucks and the hardware was slightly different to accommodate for the flatter profile of the box edge. The 73-79 beds had a slight curve.

And btw, D9TJ-9932242-AB is the Ford ID Engineering Number for the pad, it's not the Ford part number. There are no part numbers marked on parts after 1956.You are correct, I used the term part number too loosely in an attempt to tie the number shown to the dentsides.

NumberDummy, I am not trying to start a p'ing match here! I respect you and appreciate the effort you put into helping the members on this site. Respectfully--Red Mercury

But, but, but.... that's what the MPC says.

EDIT: Humor implied so lighten up... to err is human.... unless you're a Vulcan, really thin-skinned, or have an only-child syndrome.

Uh huh, but what else is there besides the MPC's that people could go by?
After Phil105 bought the kit and installed it (pics in his gallery), I listed both the part numbers for the 6 1/2' & 8' E7TZ bedrail kits and all the sources that had them NOS in this forum.

Within a few weeks, all of the 6 1/2' kits were sold. The last time I looked, there were (2) 8' kits still available. None of the people that bought these E7TZ kits complained about fitment problems.

You've missed the point... several in fact. It doesn't matter. The OP now knows what needs to be done.

Lastly, I'll just add that in any human system there will be errors and omissions. No one is infallible.

If you want to see errors and omissions, look in an LMC catalog. It's a notorious POS!!

What I got is E7TJ-9932241-AA
Off one of the arm ends. I tried again today and there's no fitting these without fabricating up a new cross bar. I looked through past posts and saw you posted a parts diagram for these and noticed those had some kind of bolt and washers I think. Very different from what I have.
If anyone that bought the 6 1/2 foot rails a few years ago reads this: please let me know what you got for mounting hardware and if it's anything like what I have. If so how did you overcome the fitting? Thanks for your time everyone!

So figured out how to these guys on.... only to have the rails be 2 inches too short. I guess it really is a huge difference between the 72 and 73 bed. I gave up and am sending them back.

I just build my own rails. It's cheaper and they last longer!

Something else is definitely wrong. I took my rails off of a dentside and transplanted them on a bumpside. Length was not an issue in any way. The center mount had to be moved a few inches and the rail re-drilled.

Those rails you have clearly are not for 73-79 trucks.

the center mount on those were off as well and was planning on just drilling new ones. In my mind someone somewhere sawed them down a few inches to fit something other then a bump or dent. Whatever, I sent them back. I'll have to wait to find them again, unless anyone has a couple 8 footers laying around they want to sell me?
