Hi Y'ALL. Just bought a 351w and I've been told it is a 1984 Windsor from a f150 4x4. I looked at rear of block on driver side above bell housing and I found this number: OEPB40387. Can anyone help me decipher this code so I know what I'm dealing with? I'd really like to know what it's telling me in detail.Thank you.
There should be another cast in number along the pan rail, that will be a better number to use. If it is a 84 block it should start something like E4, E being eighties and 4 the year.
Just went through this with mine. Date code is located just above and to left of larger casting number. It's small and fairly hard to read or i'm just old.

I believe what you found there is the partial vin from the donor vehicle. That should be a stamped number as opposed to the cast in numbers you're looking for. Casting numbers for small block Ford blocks are typically found on the side or end of the block near the starter.
