I'll pick one up from Ford tomorrow. I know it was the same brand and style that I pulled out of it. I just don't understand why it's so much hotter with the new one.

I went for a ride around the block and to the other side of town, about a 20 min ride. Pulling into my drive way I'm at 235 f.Radiator is cool to touch, the top hose is cool also but is very firm like it has pressure in it. The degass tank also has pressure in it.bottom hose is a little warm. Motor don't feel to hot when I run my hand over the top of it. So if my t stat was working right my temp should have stayed around 200 right. Its also about 65 out side right now. Oil psi was at 30 and 40 when I got on it hard.

If the upper hose is cold then either the t stats bad or rad is clogged.

In the old days we used to just put the thermostats in a pot of water on the stove and see if they opened, and at what temperature, a meat thermometer works good

Ok the dealer t stat is in and the truck is warming up. Gonna take it for a little ride to the gas station and see what it does. The new t stat is a different design from the other one I bought. Deffintally more money but it's ok if it works.I'll keep Ya all up dated.

aftermarket t-stats are like glow plugs. the parts stores know they are garbage and do not work, but they sell them anyway.

Good call. You can also get a lot of oem parts from riff raff diesel. He's a site sponsor here and really good to deal with. Glad to hear you got it going. I can't believe you had 2 bad thermostats out of the box.
