What length Steering column do I need for my 52 F1? Is it pretty much a standard length?? I can go this week to my garage and measure if it's a custom size thing? I have the Toyota power steering conversion kit and a 70 Maverick column. Looking to put in a cleaner more custom column like an Ididit. Just didn't know the length?
What your asking is like asking "what size suit should I buy?" There are a lot of variables like your height, body type, seat, steering wheel diameter, steering wheel dish, tilt or no tilt, preferred driving position, column drop, separate wheel adapter, thickness, shaft to box connector i.e. rag joint, coupler, U joint, vibration damper?
There is not one size fits all column length any more than one size fits all suit.
If you don't want to figure it out for yourself, commonly something in the 30-32" length is used with the Toy box. If you want the right size for you decide on a seat, install it in the cab, buy or obtain the steering wheel you will use (and adapter if used) put the wheel on a broomstick and sit in the truck and make driving motions for at least a 1/2 hour each at various wheel positions until you find a position you like, then measure the length.
30" is what I went with in my 52 from Flaming River with column shift. Had to heat and bend the shift lever to give me a little more clearance with the dash but wanted to keep wheel as far away from my belly as possible.
