Well, there necessarily has to be some difference somewhere else they wouldn't have redesigned the part.
The first number you list is the second revision (-B) of a part (5030) designed in 1980 (E0) for use in trucks and vans (T).
The second number you list is the third revision (-C) of that same 5030 part that was redesigned in 1988 (E8).
Looking through the parts catalog, I see it was also redesigned in 1984, 1986, again in 1989 and yet again in 1990.
Any and all of them will physically fit the frame, the differences are going to be the holes & accommodations each contains for attaching to the frame as well as for the various transmissions (and other devices) attaching to it.
What are those differences? No idea... get one of each from the stock room and line 'em up right next to each other and investigate... which isn't reasonable to do as no Ford dealer likely has any of them in stock, much less all of them at once.

Thanks for the breakdown of the part numbers. It's all stuff I knew, and from looking through the part books, the first number I posted is exactly for an F150. The second is for an F350 2wd.
Seems to me that it would be very close to what I'm looking for. I could just take a chance and buy one, but I'd rather be sure.
No they are not all the same. My 250 is different then my 350. Issue is when I swap in a Dana 60, I'll have to ditch the Trac bar because of my crossmember.
We know the bodys swap from 1980 all the way through to 1996, f150/250/350. The 250/350 even a couple more years.
But there can be minor differences such as holes for this and divits for that(like Chris mentioned). I went to the junkyard and got the crossmember that mounts the rear cab mounts out of a 1987 truck that was going to be crushed, and bolted it in my 1980. It fit fine and worked.

Hmmm. That would seem that certain cross members are the same between years (and even body styles).
But, I found pictures from an ebay sale of the cross member with the 1980 part number.
So in theory, if I can find a newer revision member, then I might be able to request a picture of it, depending how willing they are.
This is a different cross member question: Does anyone know the part number for a ZF5 cross member? I've been tearing through the Ford Parts book and I cannot for the life of me find it.

Make sure to look in the later years, they didn't come out with the zf in these years. I can tell you when I swapped the zf in my 89, the lower crossmember was the same as the c6 crossmember I took out. I just had to move the lower crossmember back about a inch to another set of holes(I think the earlier trucks didn't have these holes)
But the extra holes were only in the lower part of the "C" of the frame. There were no holes in the upper part for the short upper crossmembers. The zf had it's own upper crossmembers that were offset more to the rear and used the same holes in the frame. I had the proper upper crossmembers, but while I was swapping, I put everything side by side and compared all the different pieces.
Thats the thing, I cant even find a transmission cross member in the part book. And it goes until 1991. I suppose I could find one at the junkyards, but I want to be able to verify its the right part.
