So I bought a 2004 f350 S.D. 6.0 l diesel and it states the factory key lock code is "on the computer". So where is the computer? Its not where my 99 5.4 computer is located in the engine compartment on the driver side.
This is assuming the original owners did not change the code already but worth a try if its still original code.
Check out the excursion forum tech section on Keyless Entry door code. You will see a few options on getting this code.
The factory code will always be there. You can erase/change the previous owners code.
Take a look. Lots of good reading there.
only a few places it could be... look under the plastic kickplates specially in passenger side foot well and if that year has the glovebox door that can hinge all the way down out of the way look back up behind there.... if you stop at a dealer you can prove you own the vehicle they should be able to pull the code up on the FORD system.. the factory code is always there
We just had the same issue and located the 5 code number with the following information from another site! "I'm not a Ford mechanic, but I have a 2004 F-350 and I can tell you how I did it. The RAP module was mounted on the fire wall behind the radio. I suspect the easiest way to read the code is to remove the radio. If you can't get it out, remove the fuse panel located below the steering column. With a bright flashlight look to the right and up behind the radio and you should see at least part of a large white label. It will have a large bar code on it as well as the words "Canada" and "FCC" among other stuff. The factory code is the bold five digit number located to one side. This was not easy to see. I had to reach up under the panel and push a wiring loom out of the way while my wife looked for the number, but it was easily worth $98." You'll also probably have to move the white batting material because it blocks you from seeing the code. It took us about 10 minutes! We used a flashlight and a dental mirror to assist with seeing the code.
Here it is on my '05 on the firewall just left of center. On mine, there is a drop-down driver's side mini-glovebox thingy that lets you see up there. The master code should be on a sticker on the face of it. It is also printed on a credit-card size card in with the original owner's manual (if that's still around).
AWESOME !, Thanks for all the replies..very helpful.
I will be investigating that this weekend.
It will prolly get minimal usage as the button system is new to me but should I lock the keys in it, or if a kid needs in it then I can give them the code vs the keys...much safer that way.
