is there a way to change the code on the door, i just purchased a 2004 f 350 and i would like to know if there is a way to change it? as i do not know the code now and there is no owners manual in the truck.
First thing we need to know is if it is the hard wired keypad, or the stick on keypad. Where is it installed and approximately how thick is it?
If it is the hard wired keypad the factory number should be on a sticker behind the radio on the firewall. If you can't find the sticker the dealer can hook up to the computer and get the number for you.
If it is a stick on unit you have to have the card with the number on it.
Once you figure out the factory code, you can use it to program in a new code. Those instructions are in the Owner's Guide. You can download one for free at www.motorcraftservice.com
If its factory the dealership will have to use a scan tool to check the code (you can add a second code but need the stock code to do so) the stock code can never be changed. If its aftermarket look for a card in the glove box, if I remember correctly if you lose the code you have to buy a new keyless entry pad. I have yet to run across a newer vehicle that had a sticker for the code. If you bought it at a dealership they will usually check the code for free (if not you'll be looking at 1/2 worth of labor / unless they check for free but good luck on that) To find if its aftermarket you can usually see a gap and double sided tape behind it to hold it on. Hard wired usually = no gap.
