I have a 2006 f250 lariat diesel 6.0 and my heater only puts out heat when you're driving like on the highway. Stop and go traffic and it just blows cold. Could a bad thermostat cause this?
Check to make sure your hoses to the heater are hot and they should feel pretty solid. Then check the blend door. With the truck off and key on, shift from hot to cold, you should hear a clunk as the door goes from a/c to heat.
Might be a plugged heater hose, bad water pump or the blend door. The thermostat not getting up to temp would make the truck run colder, even lower Temps still should heat the truck easily.
Thanks!!!!
It was 2 things, my coolant recovery tank had cracks in it therefore it had no coolant in it. The system was low on coolant also. Replaced the tank and filled back up with coolant. Working good now.
Thanks!!!!

Thanks for the tips!!!!!
Now go get some digital gauges to see if you baked the coolant inside your oil cooler
