Sounds like you are making good progress but isn't 14.8v too high at the battery? I would never expect to see that much.
I found in the Ford Shop Manual that the alternator output should be between 13.0 and 15.0 volts at the alternator B+ terminal. (I can't access the B+ terminal while running as it is buried under the intake manifold so I read it at the battery + terminal.)
I'm hoping all is okay.
