Truck has started acting like it doesn't want to stay running. It starts but the volt meter is only around 1/4 way and it wiggles back and forth. Idle acts funny at the same time like it can't keep itself running. I'm guessing that's the alternator since if it was the battery, it wouldn't start at all?
Check your battery connections. I had an issue with mine like that, first it wouldn't start, then if it did it would charge weak or charge really high since my connections were corroded.
After your connections are solid, put a volt meter and check the alternator output or take it up to your local auto parts store and let them test it.
I would start by putting a meter on the alternator output and checking the voltage.
If you have ~14 volts at the alternator move to the battery and do the same. If you have ~14 volts as you should at the alternator but not at the battery you have a bad cable or connection. If you don't have ~14 volts at the alternator either the voltage regulator is bad or the alternator itself.
