Any suggestions how to eliminate the brake dust problems on a 2003 exped.? Are there any better aftermarket pads available?
Also, has anyone had the trans. whine at appr. 30+ mph? Is it normal? I have a 2003 Eb 2 wheel drv with 4500 mls.
Try some carbon metallic pads and/or some dust shields....Mattias is right about a lot of previous info about this issue. I think Ford has even admitted there is a problem.

I spoke with the sales manager at my Ford dealer Monday. He is going to see what he can do about fixing them, since the dust is staining the running boards. He said he had never seen it as bad as mine.
(dust after 4 days)
Let us know if he's able to do anything...believe me, your's is not bad at all compared to mine...mine get almost black if I wait 4 days to clean them. I guess once they sell 'em, they really don't care if they stay clean or not.
Keep the heat on FoMoCo with your complaints. There are new replacement pads in the works which will perform better and not cover the vehicle in dust. Let your voices be heard.
A forum member works for a supplier to FoMoCo. I asked him about the brakes on these vehicles and he said they had OEM pads (not from his company) replaced with less than 400 miles on them due to the dust problem. New formulation is being tested. I have no idea when they will be available.
This is really a bunch of crap. Not only is it a pain to keep the rims clean, but it makes Ford look really bad with all those new Expys driving around with black rims.
