I'm trying to adapt an emergency brake handle from a 64 Ford pickup into my '57 since my handle is long gone. I haven't had any luck finding an original. I'm building on an S10 frame but the pedal setup from that truck just wont fit in the '57.
The handle from the 64 is similar to the earlier trucks but I don't see any way to remove the cable from the lever. Are 57 - 60s the same way? The cable goes into the end of the lever then curves up a couple of inches further. The end sticks up and has a **** that looks like it was soldered in place at the factory. I would think those cables were replaceable without changing the handle but does anybody know for sure? Also anybody have a picture of an original handle setup?
Figured it out. You just release the handle and push it forward far enough to expose the cable end. Now I either have to modify it to fit the truck. Does the original 57 handbrake slope downward towards the firewall? That's what it looks like to me from the old holes.
