I've started using the foam ear plugs, which work fairly well. But some sand seems to still get by them. Or, is it the sand draining out my head?
At least you only have sand, I've got rocks in my head !
The foam plugs are ok for low noise, but you have to insert them correctly. Decent ear muffs are the go, try the Bilsom black model with lead sheet insert in the cup if you can, they are the ducks guts. And keep your mouth shut, if you didn't know that trick .
I think (after looking into the overall pricing) That I may just use a small set up and wait for the compressor to catch up. Until Ive hit it big ill hold off on Brads Setup!!

I guess Sandblasting isn't for my ol' lady ... ummm I hope she doesn't snoop on my computer... lol
I sent the frame and body parts out due to the need for high air volume. In order to complete this task efficiently, you need at least a 60 gallon tank and a two phase pump. Now, it can be done with a 110 25 gallon 5hp oil free compressor, but you will need a lot of time to complete it. I have said compressor and own a sandblasting cabinet (the big one) from Harbor Freight. I only used medium aluminum oxide and all small parts and bolts came out great. The oxide does not damage threads and does not create a lot of heat if any. I spent four years working on my bullnose and plenty of time in junk yards getting some pieces. It may be worth sending the frame out as I assume you do not have a recovery system and you will expense a lot on sand or whatever you are using.

I agree with all of that but the bit about the two-stage/phase pump. When I bought my compressor I talked to a tech at Eagle Air. I'd settled on a two-stage pump and he quickly asked what I'd be doing with the air. When I explained that I would be abrasive-blasting, running air tools, etc he said that i should not go with a two-stage but a single-stage compressor.
He then explained that a single-stage compressor has two pistons of the same diameter pumping in parallel, meaning that both pistons are pumping directly into the tank. But a two-stage compressor has one piston the size of the two on the single-stage, and then one smaller piston. The larger piston pumps into the smaller cylinder, which then boosts the pressure and puts the air into the tank. So, a single-stage compressor is good for high volume with pressures up to about 100 psi, which is the max of most air tools, while a two-stage compressor provides less volume with pressures up to 175 psi.
Just a little FYI. Sandblasting creates Zero heat!!!! It is a MYTH that has been around for YEARS. Sandblasting sheet metal does NOT warp panels from HEAT. it warps them by shotpeening the surface for the metal. It stretches the surface.
in order to NOT warp the metal, you need to use LESS than 60psi and ooo sand(fine) or glass beads
Gotta love it. Not many places where you find such a wide diversity of people with a common love. Members from Australia/New Zealand to England/Italy/Germany, and Canada to Venezuela.
How could I, especially I, forget Podunk? Actually, I didn't. It is implied as it is roughly 1/2 way 'tween all those places. But, it is kinda special so I'm glad you remembered and mentioned it.
