Purchased a 2004 Excursion Eddie Bauer 4x4 6.8 V10 for a project build for our gun store for advertising. Thanks to everyone on this forum for the information posted to help me find what I hope will be the perfect vehicle for this project. Will take awhile to get to the finished product and look forward to help and ideas from everyone here. Purchased it last week and just had a 4" Zone lift and 35s installed. Will post pictures in the morning when I have better light. Here is a picture of the soon to be beast.
Picked it up last night after lift, tires and wheels were installed. Went with Zone 4" lift and 35x12.50R20 Mickey Thompson ATZs on 20" Ultra wheels, also added dual steering stabilizers as well. Very happy so far.
Thanks, really liking the look myself and thanks for all the information here. My original plan was to get a Suburban for our project but after a bit of research (much of it here) I decided that an Ex would stand out a lot more.
I had a Zone 4" lift put on that came with new front springs.
Goals for this build are to have a truck that will draw attention to our store and to have a people hauler (we try to spend our advertising money to support local charities and organizations and at times have 6-10 people to take to an event). Priorities might be a different than many builds but are as follows:
1) Cost (can't seem to get around that one)
2) Appearance (it is for advertising)
3) Handling and Ride (will spend most of the time on highway)
4) Reliability (plan to build it right and use it for years)
5) Capability (In the end want an Ex that looks and drives great)
Would be happy to hear opinions on how to spend my limited money and look forward to advise to help me save some by doing things right the first time and only doing what is needed.
In the short time I have had it realize next step will have to be 08+ tow mirrors, to big a vehicle not to have good mirrors. I have done some reading here but have not really found a good answer if I should go with aftermarket mirrors (and if so which are good quality) or find OEM at a salvage yard? New OEM seem much to costly but the last time I had used an aftermarket mirror had nothing but trouble (but that has been 10 years ago). Want this to be a quality build that will last years but also don't want to spend money I don't need to, plenty of other things to buy for this rig.
Thank you Jesser02ex, after the research I have done that was the way I was leaning but it is always nice to hear from someone that has had them awhile.
Graphics are being put on as we speak and yes there will be bullet holes in back side glass! Looking forward to seeing them on and a bit nervous as well since it looked so good without them hope not to ruin it.

I mean real ones, but I guess the stickers would work lol
