My fenderwell headers are in the way of my new bigger tires, and need something that doesn't hang below the frame.. It's a 78 4x4..
Well it's a 78 351M in a Wagoneer, but the frame rails are wide, so F150 headers should clear them easy. Anyone have pics if they are running them headers?
Well, probably thin flanges, mind the holes punched in them, make sure nothing will hold them away from the cylinder head. 351m layout seems to like it best if you start in the center of the bolt pattern and work your way out. Use some kind of loc tite on the threads and either good gasket or high temp silicon and no gasket.
Flowtech headers are garbage. Your better off spending money on good headers rather then buying them twice. These things have very thin flanges and will leak in short order.
The Hedmans I have leaked in a short amount of time, I have that issue figured out. I use them white header gaskets with a coating of Muffler Cement on them. Not one single leak ever.
I'm more worried about getting something that doesn't hang too low. The first set of headers I had on this engine got bent up from a rock the the front diff rolled. They hung down below the frame a tad.
